When you go to Mexico on location, don't forget your Rojas!

by Samantha Swan on January 29, 2008

Like a great big arse, for the last few weeks I left an important map book for production in a pile of books & magazines in what I call the TV/fireplace room upstairs in my house. The great map book is an oversized paperback with a bright red cover called Rojas. It’s an amazingly detailed roadmap of Mexico book in English. It’s also available in Spanish of course.

The embarrassing part is that I left it there in that room as a reminder not to leave it behind. The really embarrassing part is that my neighbour who is looking after my house in my absence, is going to ferret it out for me and pass it along to one of the actors to bring it out here — and thanks to a couple of dogs I know, that room looks like a furry bomb went off in it.
No time to clean up furry dust bunnies before we left. (sigh. sorry. gross)

Also, we left a DVD of Robert Rodriguez’s very good 70s style grindhouse film Planet Terror behind accidentally as well. (We especially want to show the cast and crew the DVD’s extra features of Rodriguez’ 10 minute film school & digital effects as a bit of professional interest.)

Ok, last thing. Cautionary tale for all micro-productions! I’m quite confused about this because these are being used as costume/props and have gone missing… SUNGLASSES. 2 pair. White Dolce & Gabbanas for Emily Andrews, who plays Zoe in our film, a character who fancies herself a bit stylin’, and a mirrored pair of Aviator glasses for our definitely charming Texan Eddie, played by Sean Martin.

Makes me hope I have my own big black oversized Jackie O type sunglasses.
Utterly perplexed that they could go missing.

Ah, the joys of a tiny crew. So few people to blame – including myself.
