Well, not totally crazy…
OK, so we are low-rent guerilla indie filmmakers, but in our regular daily lives we already work in the film industry for hire. I work for hire as an actor on camera and in voiceover and as a writer. Chris has worked in just about every area of production there is. So we know how the big machine works…
I mention this for every indie producer and or director out there who feel like he or she is flying by the seat of your pants. You may well be, but give a moment’s thought to some legalities.
We have simple Release Forms in English and will have them translated into Spanish.
They are legal, but are in plain language that simply say on paper things like This person gives us permission to photograph them.
These are common on features and though they might not seem important in the moment, they will help down the line in the distribution life of the film. They also protect you from someone saying you do not have their permission to feature them — not something you want happening to one of your movie’s key scenes!)
